INTERNATIONAL VULTURE AWARENESS DAY
We invite you to participate in the coming International Vulture Awareness Day (IVAD) in Gaborone on the 7th September 2019.
Vultures are declining at an alarming rate, mainly due to direct or indirect poisoning through misuse of agrochemicals. Commemorating this day is one of our efforts to spread the message to all stakeholders to help protect vultures. Part of the commemoration will include a march whose route will see participants walk from Gaborone Secondary School grounds, passing in front of the City Council and Museum, past the State House, returning through the Main Mall back to GSS grounds. We anticipate starting the march at 0600hrs and gathering at the grounds for speeches and entertainment after the march, to finally disperse around 1100hrs.
We have invited the Hon. Minister of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism to address the public. Kindly confirm your availability. We have requested the Gaborone City Mayor to offer welcome remarks. We will also invite the Ministry of Agriculture, Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources and other relevant government departments, Embassies and NGOs to the event. Your presence will be highly appreciated. See the attached poster for details
